After I open a file in Rhino 5, I get this window (Encounter improper argument), my command prompt disappears and so my layer window if opened. Sometimes after fixing my command prompt, it will happen again with the same results.

OK, guys- I am too stupid to reproduce this- here's what I tried:

I undocked all my toolbars and moved them to my second monitor.

I opened MeshRepair.

I closed Rhino in this state and reopened it - this is where I should see the error, correct?

-I moved all docking panels (layers etc) over to the second screen as well, no difference.

Do you guys see the toolbars on the second monitor disappear when Rhino loses focus (normally, you should)?

thanks,

BTW, this is a grab of my layout, I could send you the rui files if you want to.

Hi,

Slowly getting there, Kin is having the exact same thing I have.

Pascal, it's not the toolbars that go away, it's the panels. The toolbars are always visible.

When I first had that, the Mesh Repair panel was grouped with the Properties one so I thought it was the latter that was causing the problem, After all it was the former. Today other panels were disappearing when Rhino lost focus, but it all went away when the Mesh Repair one was closed.

For me the problem is solved, I have never used used the Mesh Repair panel, so now that I have it closed I am bugfree.

However, should you need me to try anything more for debugging purposes just let me know. BTW, this reminds me of some long debugging threads with Mikko some 15 years ago in the newsgroup. It almost brings tears...

Hi Tassos- yeah, I cannot get anything to disappear, inappropriately, that is. Things (floating toolbars and panels) are supposed to disappear (unless you run a  test command) when Rhino loses focus, but come back when Rhino gets focus again. I suspect this mechanism is involved somehow but I cannot make it misbehave so far.

Hmmm- You are not running testHideOnDeactivate in your startup commands by any chance are you? Some users were running this to solve some other problem with second monitor toolbars.

thanks,

Nope, I am not running any test commands on startup. I have Vsync disabled though, in NVIDIA panel.

OK, I am seeing something like what you describe now, I think we can track it down- thanks for all the help.
