I really like the idea of the latest Rhino5 Logo for its simplicity. I raise the topic because I just had a discussion with Carlos Perez that a lot of users expect the old detailed 3D Logo. I feel that it should develop into a more abstract simple way. This idea to just use the eye of the Rhino is brilliant and very iconic. I would vote for keeping it :)

Personally I am a bit on the fence on this one. I like the idea of a simpler and more "graphic" logo which scales well and looks a bit more, well, modern and sleek! The old Rhino 4 logo kind of sticks out like a sore thumb sitting on my taskbar..
Permalink Reply by Jan-Ruben Fischer on September 20, 2012 at 5:03am Ah the good old newsgroup. There is where the discussion is boiling. Thanks. I get the point with the band aid. on the other hand how would one connect a rhinoceros with an advanced NURBS modeling software in first place... Rhinos success is in the product itself and has matured as a brand where I believe it would be suitable to modernize and simplify the logo. If you look at the evolution of other brands like apple: They started with a handdrawn logo looking like a 17. century etching. The Rhino Logo is a great piece of art but if it works as a logo for another 5 years should be discussed.

At least compared to the Newsgroup and the Grasshopper Bing forum. It totally agree what what you're saying. To add to that I would say that having only one official name for the software would be a good idea as well (you see both Rhinoceros, Rhino3D and Rhino on the official site). So in conclusion, a bit of streamlining and a "sleekness" would be nice :)

Hmm, I assume this is the "final" one before Rhino 5 officially starts shipping. Looks a bit fuzzy with those gradients and what not, doesn't seem to scale very well. But hey, thumbs up for trying out several designs. If you're taking votes I think that the one before this (black rhino on white background) is definitely cleaner and more "modern" than the this one.
