Hi there!

The page you've captured is the material object property page - not the Material Editor.  The properties page shows which (one) material is assigned to the selected object.  You can change it by dropping down that big combo-box with the preview on it.

 

The Material Editor proper can be opened up from the Render menu.  That shows all of the materials in use in the model and allows you to edit them.
