Hello. I just installed the Upgrade to Rhinoceros Version 5 (5.1.30129.1756, 1/29/2013) and immediately encounter a Graphic User Interface (GUI) related crash and a possible glitch or error. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same errors or might be able to offer advice or solutions?
SYSTEM SPECS:
Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) Workstaion
Two Quad Core 3.20 GHz Intel Xeon Processors
8.00 GB of RAM
NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 Graphics Card with latest drivers installed
NOTE: Upgrade installed both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Rhino 5 on my workstation.
CRASH & GLITCH DETAILS:
-- After opening the 64-bit version of Rhino 5 the program will immediately close as soon as the mouse is moved over any of the Rhino Toolbars, either across the top or down the left side of the screen. This does not happen with the 32-bit version of the software, nor does it happen in the 64-bit verssion of the software loaded in Safe Mode with the Toolbars.rhp or rdk.rhp plug-ins also loaded.
-- I noticed that when loaded in "Safe Mode" both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the software display a proper "About" dialog after the "Help>About Rhinocerous..." menu option is clicked. However, when either the 32-bit or 64-bit versions of the software are "NOT" loaded in Safe Mode the opening dialog, giving you the option to work with a New, Recent, or Open an existing file, appears after clicking on the "Help>About Rhinocerous..." menu option. The proper "About" dialog does not appear in this case. This can't be correct can it?
Help.
Thank you.

I'll verify that with the developer and ask him to get in touch with you if he can help fix it more immediately. Please email me directly so that I can get him your email address.

I would really like to get the 64-bit version of the software working, or at least find out when a fix might be available.
Thank you.
Permalink Reply by Pascal Golay on March 15, 2013 at 2:20pm Hi Alan- the crash problem is fixed in SR2. There are a couple more issues delaying the release of SR2, also toolbar related as it turns out but only ugly, not crashy, that we know of. You can get a preview build by setting Options > Updates and Statistics > Update frequency to 'Service release candidate'. SR2 'RC' will then download in the background and offer to install.
