Rhino Keeps Crashing

I just got in my Rhino 5 copy. Rhino keeps crashing telling me there was a problem, but does not say specifically what it is.  This usually occurs when I switch the view to either rendering or something like that .

Please Help, I cannot get any work done until this is fixed.

This sounds suspiciously like a video card/driver problem...  What are your computer specs (especially video card)?  Does the problem still occur if you start Rhino in safe mode?  Do you have any plug-ins running?

I am using a custom build, which may be part of the problem.  I am using a SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6870 video card.  I do not have any plug ins running.

Hi Surgene,
What do you mean by 'custom build'? Is this an old v5 beta for instance? I would suggest making sure you have the latest drivers for your video card installed. I'm also wondering if you are running Windows on a Mac and this is getting in the way of the GPU communicating with Rhino. Try running in safe mode to see if you still have issues. This will prevent the GPU from being used.
