Hi all,
I've noticed that a couple of the default templates in my Rhino 5 install have been overwritten. They now open with geometry from other files I have been working on. Needless to say, this is kind of annoying. So two questions:
1) Is this a bug, if not how do I prevent this from happening?
2) How do I reset the default templates?
Best,
/Anders

Permalink Reply by Pascal Golay on July 13, 2012 at 10:19am Hi Anders- I have no idea how this would happen to begin with, but to reset the default templates, you need to do two things:
1. With Rhino closed, delete the folders in the localization folder- in my case
C:\Users\pascal\AppData\Roaming\McNeel\Rhinoceros\5.0\Localization\en-US
2. In the Rhino installation folder, double-click on
C:\Program Files\Rhinoceros 5.0 Beta (64-bit)\Packages\localization (en-us).rhi
(your .rhi file name will correspond to the language, if not English)
Any luck?

If it helps this has happened on both my workstation and on my on my personal laptop (running a trial version of Rhino 4 with Rhino 5 in the latter case). So it's probably not a fluke. I wonder if no one else has experienced it. Anyhow, your tips for resetting the templates worked a charm. Thanks a bunch.

Permalink Reply by Anders Holden Deleuran on July 31, 2012 at 1:40am Hi again,
Since updating to the latest beta (Version 5.0 (5.1.20725.935, 25/07/2012)) my default templates have now completely disappeared. The steps described above do no longer work either. As far as I can tell the folder structure is now different and the "localization (en-us).rhi" file is no longer present.
Perhaps I should attempt a clean re-install?
Thanks,
Amders

I had the same issue.
I found the "localization (en-us).rhi" file at
C:\ProgramData\McNeel\Rhinoceros\5.0\Packages
and all is good.

Thanks for responding. Managed to locate and run the file. However it does not appear to work for me. Instead I get this message:
"This package is not compatible with the Rhino Installer Engine."
Any thoughts?

You are correct - now I remember doing an un-install and fresh install.
