Hello:
I recently upgraded from V4 to V5 and am happy with all the new features. My only issue so far has been when I try to output an stl file the programs seems to go into an infinitie loop. I get the spinning circle that never stops and don't get a .stl file.
I am running Rhino V5 in my Apple MacBook Pro using Boot Camp. I never had any problems with V4. In fact, I can save the V5 file back as a V4 and then open it in V4 and create the .stl fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The simple dialog lets you set the maximum distance from the mesh to the surface, and the detailed controls let you set a bunch of other stuff- what are your settings?
Also, can you export a simple object like a box ?

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes - when I create an stl for a simple cube - no problem.
And yes - I do use the mesh dialog box to adjust setting according to my model and the use for the RP part.
My general settings are:
Density 1.0
Min size 0.01
Max size 0.1
Max to edge : 0.01
All others are 0.0
Refine and pack are checked.
I primarilly built footwear models and just tried to create and stl from one of my recent models using the settings I just listed and after 30 minutes it stil wasn't finished. It did get to the part where it said mesh with XXXXXXXx ppolygons created above the command line. In V4 - creating and stl with these setting using the same model might take 4 minutes - max.
Thanks,

I think I may have solved the problem. I just tried creating an stl on the same footwear model i tried earlier today that wasn't fnished after 30 minutes and changes the setting to a less dense mesh. BasicallY changed all the settings that were 0.1 and 0.01 to 1.0 and I was successfull. It took about 2 minutes and the stl looked good. I n the past if I used these settings, the stl would be faceted. Is it possible that the mesh creation process has improved? It doesn't make sense to me, because the numbers actually corespond to measurements - but it seems to work Ok and look Ok at the higher settings.
Let me know what you think and I appreciate you help.
