Hello,
latest build has nan issue in "export selected" to "dwg format". The dwg file cannot be read in autocad. In fact, internally it has structure of dxf file. After renaming extension from dwg to dxf it can be read. In previous builds it worked OK.

Permalink Reply by Shawn de Villiers on June 8, 2012 at 2:29am I am still having a similar issue as described by Jacek above. I am using version 5.1.2012.524.
When I export selected to dwg (using Default options, and various others options I have tried), I can open the dwg file in AutoCAD, however only a small percentage of the lines are shown. The rest of the lines have disappeared.
I can open the same dwg file in Rhino V4, and all the lines are shown, so they are in the file somewhere, but AutoCAD (and DraftSight) do not see them. Is this a known issue and is there a solution to it for V5?

Can you upload a file or email it? Something small that illustrates this behavior would be best. We would really appreciate it.
We need the Rhino 5 3DM and the DWG exported from Rhino 5.
If you export from Rhino 4, and open the file in AutoCAD, what happens?
BTW what version of AutoCAD are you using?
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,

Permalink Reply by Shawn de Villiers on June 12, 2012 at 1:54am We have worked out that is is just the color of layers with display color "black", that don't show up when the dwg is opened in AutoCAD (I am still using 2004 to check conversion issues like this before issuing drawings) or Draftsight (latest version), due to the background of these programs being set as black. Strange though that these "black" lines cant always be selected either. If the layer color is changed from RGB (0,0,0) to "white" (in AutoCAD) then they all show up perfectly.
Perhaps the default export layer color of "black" lines needs to be changed to the "black/white" color in AutoCAD, to avoid this problem? It never seemed to be a problem when exporting to dwg from Rhino 4. If you still need an example file to help debug pls let me know.

Since next week release (half a year ago!) export to dwg has been working good.
I am using this feature intensely, and it really works
