What commands do I use to add 2D graphics to surfaces? I want to add symbols to a model of a gem. If I change the construction plane and import 2D graphics, the graphics import into top construction plane only.

In the file I need to explode the solid.

Thank You,

Dave

Hi Dave- OrientOnSrf will help for those objects but also look into decals in V5 (Search help on 'Decal Properties)

Pascal,
Thank you very much for your time. I want to place 12 graphics on 12 faces of a dodecahedron.
I cannot understand why I can't map the graphics to the current construction plane. It seems to me that OrientOnSrf would require three points of reference on the artwork and three points on the surface.
To do this seems needlessly complicated. I don't understand it.  What am I missing? Do I need to port all of my art work to the texture sub-directory and use decals?-
Thank you sir,
David Young.

Hi David- you can do that as well with RemapCplane-  So, this command maps from one Cplane to another - Start the command with a view active that has the Top CPlane, and then click in the custom Cplane view as the target. But as you will see, you'll still need to move and rotate the objects once mapped, or move the origin of the source CPlane to the object to move. So ultimately, OrientOnSrf is probably a lot quicker- two points on the cplane and two points on the target face (the third point is taken from the CPlane Z and the face normal automatically). The only thing you will probably need to adjust is the the rotation. Pay attention to the command line to set Copy=Yes if needed, and the Flip option as well.
