The page looks nice and clean. How will discussion threads be viewed and handled? Who will have the ability to delete posts that are not appropriate? How good will the search capability be? I'm asking just as a test of this forum concept.

not working, I'm clicking the red > Reply link below my post yet it ends up as a reply to the original post.

Ok, what appears to be the case is that adblock plus is not compatibe

(add-on for FF to block advertisements)

sorry but i'm going to/have to test some more

In addition the problem is with http://www.scorecardresearch.com/ and some more external sites that need to be allowed to run scripts on this page. (I have that blocked by default)

I have made some exceptions, lets see how it works out..

My opinion is that ning really wasn't the way to go. It's basically everything that the NNTP zealots were afraid a forum would be like without any of the potential upsides that other forum systems could have added. This forum looks nice but does waste a lot of space and lacks such features as easily being able to see which topics have new replies, only getting one email when a topic gets new posts since you last saw it, etc. However, I still think that this forum looks alright. I wish that it had bidirectional forum to NNTP sync. That would have really helped to smooth things over.

I like that I can check the forum on my iphone. For some reason though there's no quick way to navigate to the last page of a discussion on my phone, the only option I see is to go to the next twelve messages or the previous twelve messages. So the mobile site should be fixed to make navigation easier.

I like the idea of the web based forum. I'm not crazy about the social media stuff, but I'm okay with ignoring that. Actually it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the option to hide the social media annoyances.

Thanks,

Barbara

What I would like to know is how many profiles and I going to have to create.  Currently I have 1 for Rhino OSX, Grasshopper, RhinoBIM, and now this one.  I feel it would be nice to have 1 login and 1 profile for all the different forums out there.

I'll use whatever you guys at McNeel decide.

I've been using Rhino before V3 was released, and have never had any complaints about the old school newsgroup.'

All this extra stuff is nice, but I can see it becoming even more difficult to get to the posts you want.

My 2 pennies, I like the old way.
