I am a Sculpture trying to 3d print a piece in cast-able resin so I can then cast it in silver. I am trying to get a twisted cage like structure in the general shape of the model i've included. I am pretty new to rhino but have worked in 3Dsmax. I have tried so many different ways to make this shape but can never Boolean the opposing twists (group going counter clockwise and group going clockwise) I don't know if there is a work flow I am not doing but so far I have tried:
Curve (line and circle) - exude along curve - cap - polar array - boolean U - twist - mirror -BonnleanU (and I always get Boolean fail, even if i slightly move one group around)
I have tried exploding then join.
I tried using a mesh.
I tried using torus's and polar array then twist, stretch and taper and still can boolean.
I always end up with a ton of polygons and surfaces from twist.
For casting I need the smallest diameter to be 2mm (which its not).
I would greatly appreciate it if someone could maybe point me in the right direction.
Hello Rhino Community,I am a student and new to Rhino, new to Jewelry Design, acutally, just passing through. I have years of experience with poly-/subd modeling techniques (Blender, 3ds max). The only reason I bought Rhino (edu) was that Autodesk is kind of shitty in all aspects after graduation and I need a DCC to make precision/technical models with (Blender is so-so...). One of those models being an engagement ring for my girlfriend of 5 years. Yes, I am picky and I want a special design for the ring. I know all the ways on how to achieve the desired design in Max. However, through my research, I learned that NURBS models are best suited for 3D printing.Does anyone know how to go about making a ring like those seen in my attachments? Is there perhaps a Tutorial on that kind of design?Should I perhaps use RhinoGold or RhinoRing? And if so, would it be legal to make an engagement ring forprivate purposes with a trial-version?Best regards,Martin
