Chris has uploaded a video to youtube.

Hey Keith, and users, These two commands are an initial test on an expanded set of commands. We will bugshoot them until the workflow is perfect then I will expand on the methods.

The idea behind this is NOT to replace you understanding your CAM software. If you use any script without knowing what you are doing the possibilities for breakage are HIGH.

Limitations and Usage:

The DeskProto DPJ files are stored at

C:\Users\Public\Documents\RhinoRing\DeskProto

I strongly reccomend you open them first, check the post processor setting, the tool settings and your own stepover, stepalong settings as required. Make sure the safe Z limits in advanced chaining section is relevant to your machine (most typical desktops will be ok with 90mm, but some rolands have extremely limited Z)

The DPJ templates have been designed to accept most standard sized RINGS, I will develop more methods as we progress, and Keith will add them. The existing work envelopes can be adjusted by yourselves as required

I will do a video in a bit to explain how and where they are, and what each otf them do, in the meanwhile here is an older video explaining the long manual method, you may take some usage from it regarding the settings menus.

I will feedback to this forum and accept support questions/requests.

Kind Regards

CHris

above is the definition of the cutter that is missing when you run this script, I have not been able to figure out how to upload a file here yet. The definition is for a BitsnBits 10 degree tapered ballend, 0.005th/0.127mm

My halo angle is defined as 6 degrees because I allow myself a 1 degree error margin when cutting parts from multiple sides.

Oh and of course you will require DeskProto

DESKPROTO V6

The trial-version available here is a completely functional version: no limitations in functionality. You can load geometry files from your own 3D CAD system, calculate toolpaths and output NC program files suitable for your CNC milling machine. You can even configure a new postprocessor in case you have a machine that is not present in the list of standard machines.

The trial period is limited to a maximum of 30 days after setup. So do take care: only install when you have the time to evaluate the software ! Once your 30 days are expired there is no possibility for a second trial period on the same computer !!

As three editions of DeskProto (Entry, Expert and Multi-Axis) are included in this trial version: at each program start you can choose which edition you want to evaluate.

and of course.. the proof of the pudding, is in the eating...

Chris,

Very smooth milling. - nice workbench setup.

SOme good news is Lex, as usual has been great on support. The function we are exploiting to maker this work had a glitch that stopped the whole thing being automated, but Lex has identified and fixed that glitch..

I will post an updated video after testing the system.

Ok, so before we get to that, I caught myself out with my segment settings, and figured other people might have too.. this video explains how to adjsut your segments.
