Hello Keith,
long ago that i write something :-)
I had a lot to work in last months.
First i had to say, the new RhinoRing Updates are very, very great :-))
The Gumball Options are wonderful :-)
In this Moment some new Options are not 100% prefect but after time and more Perfection it will be :-)
Sorry again for my bad, bad english. I hope i nerve you not to much.
I give my best :-)
Okay here is my Problem.
If i start the new Signet Ring Toolbar. First i start with Network Curve,
then Ring size and so on. After this the Signet Ring will be automatic created.
Now my Problems started....
After the Ring ist cerated the objekt Block is on and something with the History must be wrong. Something is on or off. I dont know exactly. And after created a signet Ring some History Options are on or off. Maby the Signet Ring Tool will dont turn off some options after creating a signet ring.
If i manually change it i to off i can work farther. But the next Problem is,
the Shank Profile wont wort okay. It generate something but after this the Ring is busted. I can work along.... the ring is broken....
Before i send Pictures and write exact the Problems, please try by your self the signet ring Tool in the newest RhiniRing Version. Maby you had the same Problem
like me an i dont need to send more info .
The next please is, the control Points for the Signet Rings are not so optimal.
I think the Points are okay to change the automatic generated shank profile ,
but the points are not very nice placed to use them for change the Ring form without the Shank option.
There are no good grip Points for the top and bottom of the Signet ring.
Please try by your self to create a signet ring without the Shank option.
try to change the shank down and top with an you will see there are no nice grip points.
Uhh.. that was a lot of work for me to write. I need to look in the english book for every 5. oder 6. Word :-)

I have added some test commands to enter into the command line:
1. cwxSigRingTest
2. cwxSigProfileTest
In these test commands - curves can now be rebuilt or have extra knots added.
Note: to ensure a closed NetworkSrf - make sure to collect the adjacent grip points when scaling or dragging the shield profile.

i tried it with the new RhinoRing Build you send me the Link.
And i tried it with and without the cwxSigRingTest & cwxSigProfileTest.
But i had the same Problems.
The new Grip Pionts are still there :-)
I think the new grip points are ok. I will test it more later. Thank you very much!
What i see is on the right side view i need a nother two grip pionts near the bottom and top
to make the shank bigger or smaller. Is this possible?
What i do...
1. network srf
i use on time the standart sizes and an nother one custom sizes.
Same Problems are coming.
2. generate the Ring
Here you can see the Lock is on!
Here i unlock the Ring by the rhino Button
every thing is ok
3. i use Shank Profile with cushion form
Now you can see the Cushion Form in the middle of the ring.
After i clock ok this happens.
RhinoRing dont use the cushion form to build the Ring Form
Same happen with ore without use your Test commands.
Are i am the only one with this Problem?
Regards, Chris
Permalink Reply by Keith Reffell on March 2, 2013 at 5:37am The error I see is that the shank profile has not been scaled as part of the script, I will update the test for tomorrow.
I prefer to lock the surfaces created - as it makes selecting the grip points and curves much easier. Having locked surfaces should not stop you from editing the ring.

thank You!
About the Surface Lock.
Ahh.., i understand. It´s right. Locked is realy more easy to mark the Grip point´s.
I was only a little bit confused :-)

Thanks

Permalink Reply by cme on March 4, 2013 at 12:17am Hi Keith,
now here is a new Signet Ring.
This Ring had another size and so on. On the Picture you can see,
the Shank Form is turned to 90Degree and something other with the Shape is not normal.
I think to turn the Shank Form to 90Degree will fix all Problems.
I put the Rhino File in the Post.

Permalink Reply by Keith Reffell on March 4, 2013 at 12:55am OK, I think I can see the problem.
In the last 2 images your shank profile is imported with:
1. The Z axis (blue arrow) along the world X axis.
2. The X axis (red arrow) along the world Y axis
3. The Y axis (green arrow) along the world Z axis
I will ask McNeel why this might happen and get back to you.

As work around, this new build should work for you - version V1.1.0.3
1. cwxSigRingTest
2. cwxSigProfileTest
