I'm modelling a house in Rhino 5 + VisualARQ 1.7.2 + Vray and I have a problem with assigning materials to different components of the wall.
My house has prefabricated sandwich type walls with wooden exterior finish and gypsum board as interior finish. I've assigned different materials for both (see printscreen) but I can't see any materials on my model. How can I resolve this? (With doors and windows it worked to assign different materials to different components).
My second question is about the Wall sublayers (finish components, thermal components, etc.). I could not figure it out how these work. For example, I set my CS Exterior 400mm wall Wood component's function to Finish (Construction>Type>Function) and nothing happend (I expected it was moved to Walls-FinishComponents sublayer).
I've beeen struggling with this for two days so I eagerly seek solutions. :)
Before answering your questions, I let you know that there is a newer version available at the website (1.7.3) than the one you use: http://www.visualarq.com/download/
1. In the current version of VisualARQ (1.7.3) it is not possible to assign different materials to wall components. In the next VisualARQ 1.8 version it will be possible. The only way to do that until VisualARQ 1.8 is released is to explode the wall, and assign the materials to the different faces of the resulting polysurface.
2. If you want some wall component to be placed in some specific layer, you have to specify it in the Attributes tab, after selecting the component and regardless of its function. The function just adds some information to the wall component but don't place it automatically to any specific layer. We could consider making the wall component be placed in a corresponding layer automatically, when you change its function, in future versions.
Please don't hesitate to ask for more doubts or questions.
Thank you very much for your prompt reply, I found it useful. I'm looking forward to VisualARQ 1.8 then.
I let you know that VisualARQ 1.8 is already available! So you can now assign different materials to the different layers of the same wall style.
