I mistakenly deleted a .3dm file from a flashdrive thinking it was a duplicate. I have the .stl file of that model but wanted to make a few slight changes.... seems I might be out of luck. Lesson learned.

"Not automagically, or easily, except in certain special trivial cases, it's one of the most advanced, least-fun things you can do with Rhino. The software that claims to do it automatically costs a ton and produces generally very nasty results.…"

"Hi Andrew- any file format that can be read by Rhino can be saved to 3dm format - Open the STL file in Rhino and hit Save...

"I was able to do it using the sweep 2 rails, creating a surface and then extruding that surface..... I just thought there was something that did it in one shot..... is there?"

"Open your file. In the Right viewport, window select your entire model. Now use Invert to invert the selection. You will have one curve light up - it's way out in space. Delete that curve.
Now, Right Click on the 4Viewport…"

I can see the other 3 and if I add more they are there..... I was then able to drag the "back" view back and it began acting like the perspective viewport. Just learning the process of this amazing program and I am having difficulty drawing a shape on just one side of a poly surface. If I am drawing in the right viewport on a poly surface and want the curves to stay on the zy axis, the curves always end up jutting out onto the x axis. The shape looks correct in the right viewport, but not in the other 3! I am sure this is an easy skill.... but I a stumped! Any help would be appreciated!File attached to show what I mean.See More
