Sweep 1 not creating contiguous objects

I've been using sweep 1 on some fairly long lines (2000-10000 units/feet), some of which are extremely curvy and sometimes with sharp angles, but also on others that are effectively straight. However, when trying to sweep even a simple rectangle along the lines, the output surfaces will not be contiguous, and will sometimes even overlap in odd ways. Is this a bug, or are my lines at fault?
