Make 2D draw order
1 Reply

I'm trying to make a multi-layer drawing from a Make2D, and by necessity I have some duplicate lines.  Is there any way to force the Make2d to respect the draw order from the 3d view? Thanks,JacobContinue

Draft angle analysis display bug
2 Replies

Hi,I set the object display mode for a few objects to ghosted within my shaded viewport.  I then ran a draft angle analysis on them which worked fine.  When I exited the draft angle analysis, the…Continue

Make2D

Hi,It would be really helpful to have a progress bar when using make2D.  Especially when doing a complex make2D, when you let it go for twenty minutes and it still hasn't completed it would be great…Continue

Blend Multiple Surfaces
13 Replies

It would be really great if there was a way to use the Blendsrf command to blend more than two edges.  Say I had 3 or 4 surfaces that did not touch and I wanted to create a surface that blended…Continue

Pascal Golay replied to Jacob Bloom's discussion Draft angle analysis display bug
"Hi Jacob- so far this works here- can you try setting the object display mode to something else and then back again?  How about ClearAllMeshes? If you cannot sort it out, please export one or more of the objects and send it to me- make sure not…"

Draft angle analysis display bug

Hi,I set the object display mode for a few objects to ghosted within my shaded viewport.  I then ran a draft angle analysis on them which worked fine.  When I exited the draft angle analysis, the color from the analysis stayed with the object, and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.Any advice?JacobSee More

Jacob Bloom replied to Trygve Wastvedt's discussion WalkAbout movement direction not changed by orbiting
"Hi,  I see that this thread is fairly old, but it seems that the problem still exists in SR1.  When you orbit in walkabout view it doesn't reset the target.  As soon as you pan, the target jumps to the new location.  If you…"

Make2D

Hi,It would be really helpful to have a progress bar when using make2D.  Especially when doing a complex make2D, when you let it go for twenty minutes and it still hasn't completed it would be great to know whether it's 95% done or 5% done and whether it's worth letting it keep running for another 5 minutes or if it's never going to finish. Also, some of the people I work with suggested a pause button for make2D, so that you could stop it in the middle and then resume from where it left off.I…See More

"In this try I took the surfaces on layer 02 and extended them to use as part of the 'vault,' up or down depending on how the surface was undulating. I point-pushed a simple surface, then used VariableBlendSrf to round off between it and…"

"Given the tools we have, I guess I'd start with a patch and then decide how much area to devote to damage control at the corners, trim, and make those surfaces separately. -Pascal pascal@mcneel.com"

James Carruthers replied to Jacob Bloom's discussion Blend Multiple Surfaces
"Well, seeing what you've come up with I can see how this could be simplified a great deal, though I just don't have time to give it a shot right now maybe Pascal can. The problem is not a new surfacing tool needed, it's just…"

"Hi James, Sorry this thread is out of order; it wouldn't let me reply to your last post. I managed to create a polysrf of what I was looking for using blendsrf, sweep, matchsrf, & networksrf.  I attached it so that you could see what…"

"When Pascal's reaction to your input geometry is Are you serious? then something is missing. You're trying to "network" or "patch" a surface with edges that don't form an actual perimeter of a shape, let alone a…"

Jacob Bloom replied to Jacob Bloom's discussion Blend Multiple Surfaces
"Hi James, Thank you for the feedback.  The edges actually are defined, although they are very small.  I've tried to break down the process into smaller steps.  Unfortunately it always seems to have a hole at the surface creation…"

James Carruthers replied to Jacob Bloom's discussion Blend Multiple Surfaces
"You need to resolve what's supposed to be going on in those corners better, which will presumably lead to breaking the problem down into some more manageable steps that will give you a clean result. Those "extra edges" you're…"

Pascal Golay replied to Jacob Bloom's discussion Blend Multiple Surfaces
"Hi Jacob- if you trace the edges around the shape you have patched, you'll see this is not a realistic thing to surface to the edges but you can get something , maybe what you are looking for, if you turn off Adjust tangency in the patch…"
