"This is the exact problem that lead me to try T-Splines, (the Rhino plug-in.) Check it out if you already haven't... it was designed for situations just like this, and a whole lot more."

"Here is a slightly different approach- this is G2- the blue surface is a BlendSrf, the Cyan one a Sweep2, Red is Sweep1 as before. -Pascal pascal@mcneel.com"

"Hi Todd- see if the attached is of any use- two Sweep1 (red) and a patch surface, blue. This is only tangent across the top,  not curvature continuous of course. -Pascal pascal@mcneel.com"

Tangency on branched grooves

Hello All:I have a project where I need to add some branching grooves and I'm trying to figure out the best way to construct the grooves at the intersection.  I would like to keep the same shape, depth , tangency etc.,.  Any ideas for how to best construct this area.  I have attached a couple screen shots and the file in V5. Thanks,…See More

"Hi Pascal: Thanks for the reply.  My work around was that I exploded the polysurface and trimmed the surfaces separately and then re-joined the surfaces and it was fine.  So, tomorrow when I start working on the project again I will dup…"

"Hi Todd- can you please post, or send me the surface and curve? My guess is that if you hide the trimming curve, then Untrim, with KeepTrimObjects=Yes, then retrim the surface with the resulting curve, it may clean up the meshing. However, I'd…"

Half of surface turns transparent after trim

Hello :I am using Rhino 5 on my MAc via boot camp.  I have noticed a bug since I started using Rhino 5 and was wondering if there is any fix for this.basically, periodically after I trim a surface or polysurface with a curve, part of the surface or poysurface turns transparent.  In the shaded view you can still see the isocurves, but part of the surfce area is transparent.  I have attached 3 images. 1. Before the trim in shaded view.2. After the trim in shaded view.3. After the trim in render…See More

"Hi Todd-My guess is that the meshing process is the hangup, meshing having changed somewhat in V5, so settings may need to change-  when you export, do you set the meshing dialog at all? The simple dialog lets you set the maximum distance…"

Unable to create .stls in Rhino V5

Hello:I recently upgraded from V4 to V5 and am happy with all the new features.  My only issue so far has been when I try to output an stl file the programs seems to go into an infinitie loop.  I get the spinning circle that never stops and don't get a .stl file.I am running Rhino V5 in my Apple MacBook Pro using Boot Camp.  I never had any problems with V4.  In fact, I can save the V5 file back as a V4 and then open it in V4 and create the .stl fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.See More
