"DupBorder on the mesh, then SubCrv on the result should be the quickest way to get the bit of the curve you need, I think.

"i drew a couple of lines then used them to trim the unwanted parts..
(you could probably also explode the border then delete the unwanted lines and re-join the remaining )

"Sorry Jeff - how are you deleting the unwanted parts? When I try to do Extract Curve on the Nurbs border, Rhino goes into Copy mode instead of letting me "unparent" (don't know official term) the bits I want to delete.

"the way i got the curve in my example was by running MeshToNurb on the mesh then DupBorder on the nurbs object (then trimming the unwanted parts)

Hey, if the objects and the curve are 3D in the side/front view, then yes, that's the ticket. I cannot for the life of me get the actual curve replicated off the mesh - it goes 2D when extracting from the mesh.
